Comedian Martha Kelly spent years making people laugh in Austin before she decided to pack up and head to Los Angeles. But this month she’ll be in town performing in the Alamo Drafthouse’s Master Pancake Theater.

A coffeeshop hangout by day, the Hideout hosts improv, sketch comedy, and stand-up comedy shows just about every night of the week.

A little bit musical, a little bit magic show, a little bit sketch comedy, Esther’s Follies is not to be missed. In fact, since the show changes often, it should be seen regularly.

When big-name comics are in town, this is where they perform. For good reasons, too — this venue has plenty of seating, a large stage, food (nachos, burgers, fried cheese), and plenty to drink.

Come here enough and you’ll be able to watch local comics develop their jokes by working on timing and delivery – or, in many cases, by coming up with all new material.

Austin’s newest comedy venue is, well, pretty damn cool.
