About The Mean Eyed Cat

The Mean Eyed Cat is a Bar dedicated to the memory and music of Johnny Cash. The building used to be a Cutrite saw store. The atmosphere is relaxed and the beer is reasonably priced. Monday through Thursday everything is $1 off. Owner Chris Marsh is an extremely nice guy who makes everyone feel welcome. Out back there’s a large patio where live music often plays and you can smoke if you like. Space can be tight inside, especially on the weekends. But the outside can accommodate any large group.

Lamberts

Lamberts is a fancy barbecue joint that also hosts quite a bit of live music.

Patsy’s Cowgirl Cafe

Live music, booze, and decent dishes — brought to you by the folks who run Esther’s Follies.

About Cafe Mundi

What’s the best thing about Cafe Mundi? Take your pick: The hidden setting by the East Fifth Street tracks, the outdoor garden, the art, the nice staff, the good food…

Their coffee is organic — they also serve tea, juices, smoothies, beer, and wine. You can also order a wide variety of food: breakfast (including waffles), soups, salads, sandwiches, and appetizers.

Whether you’re looking for a place to get work done, relax, or hang out with friends, this will probably be your new favorite spot.

The Green Muse Cafe

A “working” coffeeshop perfect for those who like to take care of business away from home — but beware the annoying performance “artists” on weekends.

Shoal Creek Saloon

Come for the games, but stick to the safe bets on the menu (like burgers and fries).

219 West

This Warehouse District bar has a lunch menu, plus six more menus to ensure you pair the right food with whatever you’re drinking.

Beerland

Cheap beer, rock ’n’ roll, no frills.

Red Eyed Fly

Austin’s haven for teenage (and by that we mean 18+) punks. The fare is mostly local punk and so is the decor.

Stubb’s Bar-B-Q

The outdoor “amphitheater” has hosted a cavalcade of high-profile acts, and an indoor stage hosts local acts. Stubb’s is also, as the name implies, a barbecue restaurant.

Central Market Cafe

Nothing to get excited about, but it’s still good stuff.

The Hideout Theatre

A coffeeshop hangout by day, the Hideout hosts improv, sketch comedy, and stand-up comedy shows just about every night of the week.
