“Things I Never Told You” is the current exhibition at the Women & Their Work art gallery. The portfolio Denise Prince Martin has worked on for the past five years went public on Thursday, May 17 and will be open until June 23. Each of the photographs shows a different looking woman in a different ambiguous environment, often holding a strange object. All of the images cohesively have an artificial and subtly ironic feeling about them. Bordering between a critique on female imagery in modern culture to a collection of individual narratives, Prince Martin’s photographs aim to show the women behind the costumes and make-up. It’s definitely worth checking out, man or woman.
