While browsing the Austin Ghost Tours website, I noticed they offered a Servant Girl Annihilator tour.
The Servant Girl Annihilator is called the first American serial killer, and he terrorized Austin from 1884 to 1885. The Annihilator killed at least seven women, mostly servants, by dragging them from their beds, raping them, and eventually slashing them to death. Conspiracy theorists have linked the killer to Jack the Ripper, who wreaked havoc on London just three years later.
This fun tale of intrigue and drama is supposed to be available on an Austin Ghost Tour. However, because of a low demand, the Servant Girl Annihilator tour is not offered regularly. A representative of Austin Ghost Tours told me that there would probably be one offered over the summer, but she had no idea when.
