Watch out Accord owners! The Austin Police Department has released vehicle theft statistics indicating that 358 of the popular Honda sedans have been broken into or stolen since January 2007. This is a marked increase of only 170 Honda Accord thefts in 2006.
Theft prevention tips from APD:
Lock your car.
Take your key.
Never leave your car running unattended, even for a minute.
Don’t hide spare keys on your vehicle. If you can find them, so can a thief.
Roll your windows up all the way, even in hot weather.
Park in well-lighted areas.
Park as near to an open business as possible.
Don’t leave valuables in open sight; lock them in the trunk.
If you have a garage, use it, and lock the garage door.

This is shocking to hear - I didn’t think the Apd actually gave two craps about cars being broken into or stolen. They definately did not care when mine was broken into last month. To hear that they keep statistics is shocking when the way they treat victims of this is so lame.
Accords have been at the top of the stolen cars list forever though.

What is the attraction to hondas. I have an old 10 year old honda in front on my house. It barely runs. This summer I got like 5 inquiries about selling it. It wasnt for sale people just knocked on my door. I was hoping their was gold in the truck or a magical leprican but I checked and their wasnt.
