Patsy’s Cowgirl Cafe, the ‘Esther’s Follies restaurant,’ now open for dinner

Shannon Sedwick and Michael Shelton, co-founders of Esther’s Follies, opened Patsy’s Cowgirl Cafe on March 12th. And the restaurant has been getting a tremendous amount of traffic, especially considering its location (Ben White, just west of Montopolis), the lack of advertising, and that it’s only been open for lunch.

But starting tonight, Patsy’s will be open until 9pm 9:30pm. Come by for appetizers, margaritas, beer, and live music. There’s a little play area outside, so this is definitely a great place to go if you have kids, too.

I went to Patsy’s for lunch today, and I was very impressed with the food, the service, and especially the decor. Legendary Austin comedian and Esther’s Follies performer Kerry Awn is responsible for most of the art at Patsy’s, and it’s all just very well done. The menu includes stuff like sandwiches, burgers, salads, kids’ plates, chicken fried steak, and plenty of desserts (chocolate mousse swans and tiramisu cake — yum).

I’m hoping they’ll extend their hours, at least on weekends, to 11pm or midnight. Since there’s a bar and a stage inside, it seems like this is going to be a really fun and relaxed place to go to at night — especially for people like me who live close by.

How to get there: From I-35, take Ben White east and exit Montopolis. Get in the right lane, look for the Catfish Parlour, and Patsy’s is about 100 yards east of that place on the access road — you’ll want to turn right on Chapman and make an immediate left into the restaurant’s parking lot.

I had lunch at Patsy’s for the first time yesterday. The food was very good and the service was great—even for 12:00 Noon on a Friday in Austin, TX! (The tortilla soup was excellent!) I am anxious to return again!

Visited Patsy’s for the first time to see Rosie Flores. Hostess was way above average, but seated us for dinner in a back room where we were never noticed. We gave up on our dinner plans and headed back to the live music (the main reason we went there) and cold beer.

The food looked mighty good though. We plan to return for lunch or dinner.

The music was way too loud, and many patrons (myself included) were stuffing fingers in their ears. No reason to ‘blast’ everyone out, especially in a ‘supper club’ environment. We’ve been doing live music for over 35 years, so we can comment with some degree of credibility. The bass was not over-boosted, as in many establishments today, but the volume was uncomfortable.

The Eggmen(Austin’s award-winning Beatles tribute band) will be playing Patsy’s on Friday, October 12th, 8-11PM.

Goo-goo-ga-joob.

Went to Patsy’s last night. After a 5 minute wait at the door we were shown to our table. TWENTY MINUTES LATER we still had no water, no margaritas, but we had runny stuffed Jalapenos I’d never order again.

We got up and left. I’ll never set foot in that place again.

Service was not good. Waitress accidentally put my plate of food on another table, then tried to give it to me. Food was average for the price paid.
