The Free Hugs Campaign has come to Austin! In case you’re not familiar:
Free hugs is a real life controversial story of Juan Mann, A man whos sole mission was to reach out and hug a stranger to brighten up their lives.
In this age of social disconnectivity and lack of human contact, the effects of the Free Hugs campaign became phenomenal.
As this symbol of human hope spread across the city, police and officials ordered the Free Hugs campaign BANNED. What we then witness is the true spirit of humanity come together in what can only be described as awe inspiring.
Here’s the original video:
Right now, two people with “Free Hugs” signs and a cameraman are set up in front of The Hideout on 7th and Congress, and I have a hunch they’ll be there all afternoon. Not many people were getting their free hugs, but I was touched by the video of the original project, so I definitely wanted to get mine. And they give you a sticker! If you’re downtown, make sure to go get your free hug and spread the love on Valentine’s Day.
