Campus Watch is a newsletter sent out a few times per week by Officer Darrell Halstead at the University of Texas at Austin Police Department. It contains a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by UTPD patrol officers. Here are some gems from the most recent Campus Watch emails sent out over the last couple of days:

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor (4 Counts): A UT officer responded to the Turtle Pond on a report of several subjects throwing rocks. During the investigation, the officers learned that one subject had gotten stuck in the middle of the pond and his friends were building a rock bridge so that he could walk out of the pond. As the investigation continued, the officers soon discovered that all four subjects were under the legal age of 21 and had been drinking alcohol because they were bored. All four subjects were issued field release citations for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and were also issued referrals to the Dean of Students’ Office. Occurred on: 4-13-08, at 12:40 AM.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor / Criminal Trespass: A UT student entered into a 3rd floor dormitory room and argued with the authorized residents that he was in “his room” and that they needed to leave. During the investigation, the officers learned that the subject removed his outer clothes and passed out on top of a bed. As the investigation continued, the officers soon learned that the subject was under the legal age of 21 and had been consuming alcohol. The officers were able to locate the student’s roommate and released him into his care. The officers issued the subject a field release citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor as well as a referral to the Dean of Students’ Office. Occurred on: 4-13-08, at 6:15 AM.

Criminal Mischief: Three UT students were discovered emulating Van Gogh, Picasso and Andy Warhol on the north side of the PCL. During the investigation, the students were surprised that they needed permission from the university in order to create their works of art. All three students cleaned up their masterpieces and were referred to the Dean of Students. No charges for Criminal Mischief were filed. Occurred on: 4-13-08, at 11:43 PM.
