Campus Watch is a newsletter sent out a few times per week by Officer Darrell Halstead at the University of Texas at Austin Police Department. It contains a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by UTPD patrol officers. Here are highlights from the most recent Campus Watch email:
San Antonio Parking Garage | 2420 San Antonio St
Criminal Trespass Warning (2 Counts): A UT police officer observed two subjects enter the southeast stairwell and not exit onto any of the upper levels. During the investigation, the officer located both subjects sitting in the stairwell drinking beer. Neither subject was a current student or staff member and neither had a vehicle inside the garage. Both subjects were issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and were escorted from the area. Occurred on: 4-02-08, at 6:30 PM.
300 block of E 24th St
Public Intoxication: A UT student was observed staggering and swaying back and forth as he attempted to sprint along the sidewalk. The subject would stop and hang onto a strategically placed fence in order to maintain his balance. During the investigation, the officers detected a moderate odor of alcohol on the subject’s breath. The subject kept repeating the word, “Yes” even when the officers were not asking any questions. When asked why he was repeating the “Yes” over and over again, the student stated he was anticipating the officer’s unasked questions and having the answer ready. The student was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 4-02-08, at 2:10 AM.
