Little hippie spin on old skool drive-thru

So you’re jonesing for some good old fast food, but your inner health nut is making passive agressive comments under his breath. There is a compromise in the form of P. Terry’s Burger Stand that owner Patrick Terry started after being grossed out by Fast Food Nation and wanting to make a better burger joint. It’s not tofu, but it is high quality fast food: The menu includes veggie burgers plus meat products and fries that are organic and/or natural. Also, the burgers ($1.85 or $4.25 for a combo) honestly frickin’ taste like they came from someone’s backyard grill on a carefree Fourth of July afternoon when you were younger and more innocent. Usually, American cheese doesn’t inspire the reaction “Hot damn, this American cheese is rocking my world!” Somehow, on P. Terry’s cheeseburgers, it does. The chicken burger with swiss ($3.45 or $5.55 for a combo) is not quite such an epiphany, but it’s pretty good for a grilled chicken sandwich. The burgers are a little on the small side, but they seem worth it for the quality. The fries ($1.35) are badass too, crunchy and with potato skin still on them. There’s a nice patio area in the back, complete with a sandbox if you have kiddos in tow. No kids’ meals though.
