Koriente: Home cookin’ on Seventh

Healthy and affordable alternative to deep-fried Asian cuisine

Koriente’s got a little something for everyone: It’s fast food, it’s healthy, it’s cheap, it’s reasonably classy, and it tastes like home cooking. You know, good home cooking — not the nuked ramen and microwaveable eggs variety. The owners have put together a menu based on traditional Korean dishes, and they market their food as a healthy alternative to the deep-fry-o-rama popular among many Asian restaurants. Try the spring rolls, the Kalbi pot roast or vegetarian Ka-re curry, and then one of the awesome varieties of hot tea. The menu’s small, but everything’s well made. Entrées range from $6–$8.

Koriente is mainly a lunch spot, so the wait’s especially short for dinner, when it has a relaxed and quiet atmosphere. Plus there’s nice décor on the inside and a pretty flower garden outside, making it great for an affordable date that doesn’t feel cheap or tacky. There’s even a parking lot, but you have to take a weird route to get to it, and there aren’t too many spaces.

Getting There

From North IH-35 Take the 8th-3rd St. exit and turn right onto 6th. Take your second right onto Sabine St. and park on your left (you’ll see spaces just behind the building). Be sure you don’t accidentally park in the pay-lot right behind it.
