Quick! Get to your favorite local video store – there are movies you probably haven’t heard of but must see, and this is one of ’em:
Seconds (1966)
If you’re in the mood for a truly frightening black-and-white thriller, then you should definitely check out Seconds, starring Rock Hudson (I know, right?) as a middle-class businessman living a dull life in the suburbs who is given a second chance in life. The premise of the film is deceivingly simple: What if you could start all over again? When the businessman signs a contract with a secretive corporation, his new life begins with a dream job, a luxurious new beach-front house, and drastic plastic surgery (to look like that studmuffin Rock Hudson, of course). Initially apprehensive and unsure of himself, he slowly begins to enjoy his second lease on life. However, his initial doubt soon resurfaces and he desperately tries to rescind his contract to return to his original life.

I’ve been recommending this one to folks since I first saw it 20 years ago. It still creeps me out just thinking about it. Nice call, ‘That Other Paper’.
