Muriel’s Wedding (1994)
Australian actress Toni Collette stars as Muriel Heslop, an Australian girl who loves listening to Abba and fantasizing about her Australian wedding day even though she’s never been on a date (I know, right?!1). With lots of charming Australian accents, a very mean father character, and many lines that you and your friends will love to quote around people who have never heard of the movie, Muriel’s Wedding will surely make you wonder what you were so busy with in 1994 that prevented you from seeing this movie in theaters. Even though the answer is probably something that involves collecting Beanie Babies and/or clubbing the shit out of Nancy Kerrigan’s legs, it’s no reason to never see this movie.

So I love me some movies like no other and I happen to see your post on muriel’s wedding. Hmm, I think to myself, never heard of it. I currently had an order running on amazon with some movies, so I thought sure, I trust that other paper, I pick up Muriel’s Wedding too. Now granted it only cost me 5 bucks, but that can attest to how horrible this movie was that I’m willing to post this about five dollars. This one’s all on principle. I was so disapointed in this movie. It was cheesey and cliche and seriously, IS muriel actually mentally retarded??!! I found myself just pitying her and limited mental capacities. This is one of those movies I’m not even sure how I finished. And if Muriel isn’t retarded, her sister, mother, brother and father certainly are. Seriously, what I’m thinking happened here is that Muriel’s mother’s mother and father (muriel’s grandparents) were actually brother and sister and it further compounded it’s retardation into muriel’s generation. What an aweful aweful movie. So yeah, in summation I want my five bucks back, and compensation for the 2 hours of my life I wasted watching it.
