You can feel Halloween approaching — the weather is cooling down, the clocks are turning back an hour, and costumed children are about to hit you up for candy. Are you still not sure what you’re doing to celebrate All Hallows Eve? Then read on — That Other Paper has a full range of spooky activities to keep even the most finicky ghouls and goblins happy.
Halloween on Sixth Street

The annual 6th Street Halloween celebration draws crowds of 60,000 and does not disappoint. Although many bars and clubs have drink specials if you are dressed up, most people on 6th Street are spectators to the incredibly intricate and zany costumes that appear each year.

Rocky Horror Picture Show
Dress up as your favorite sweet Transylvanian transvestite and come sing along to this kooky cult classic. Props bags will be provided for $3 each, or $5 for two. Each bag will contain: newspaper, rubber glove, noisemakers, toilet paper, party hat, cards and a condom. If you’re a RHPS virgin, then check out this guide to audience participation.

Halloween Carnival with Car Stereo (Wars)
Dance, drink, and do whatever else it is you’re supposed to do at a Halloween party as Car Stereo (Wars) spins some hot jams.

Austin Haunted Forest presents Dames & Demons Halloween w/ Sangre del Sol
Austin Enchanted Forest is throwing a blow-out party to their month-long Haunted Forest event. Featured performers include: Sangre del Sol, Baruzuland Puppet Theatre, Pyrogenisis, That Damned Band, Black Scorpion Magician, Tzol (from Kan’Nal), 999 Eyes, Carousel Cabaret, Neptune, and Break Beat Buddha. Guests must be costumed!

Bump in the Night at Lamberts
Chow down on some tasty ’que at Lamberts while DJ Starsign spins funk, disco, house, and hip hop — it’s “a sexy, scary, and scandalous event” says their flyer. This would be a great option if you’re either going to or coming from Sixth Street.
