It’s been a while since I’ve written to the Internet, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy keeping up with the coolest stuff going on in our little corner of the planet. Here’s what is up…
Free secrets
Is this thing on? That’s exactly what students in Dan French’s (ooh-la-la!) free stand-up comedy class, The Cleverly Hidden Secrets of Stand-up Comedy, will be saying tonight from 7–9pm at ColdTime Theater. If I can get Hubbers to take care of the kiddos, I’ll be front ’n’ center. I don’t want to give too much away, but I’ve been writing a routine for months now that pokes fun at airplane food and the differences between men and women. I just can’t quite nail down my last bit about how President Bush sometimes mispronounces words. We’ll see if Monsieur French can help me!

Tomorrow, May 15, from 7am–7pm, McDonald’s will be giving away free Southern Style Chicken Sandwiches and Southern Style Chicken Biscuits — all you have to do is buy a medium or large drink. To ensure I get my free sandwich, right after lunch today I’ll be setting up camp underneath the closest Golden Arches. I’m lovin’ it!
Pun fun
The 31st Annual O. Henry Pun-Off World Championships are upun us! It’s happuning at noon this Saturday, May 17, at the O. Henry Museum on Brush Square. There are two compuntitions: Punniest of Show, a “freestyle competition for punsters with prepared material allows 90 seconds for creative have-wits from every crook and nanny to stuff their struts,” and Punslingers, where “aspiring have-wits are paired up and pared down by battling in wordplay on a given topic.” Either way, this compuntition sounds like a lot of pun.
