About Wheatsville Co-op

Wheatsville Co-op opened on March 16, 1976 — funded by the proceeds from a ZZ TOP concert benefiting the UT Student Association, along with contributions from College Houses and Frank Cook. The students who started Wheatsville were true do-it-yourselfers: They built the shelves, did construction on the building, unloaded the trucks, cleaned the floors, and stocked the shelves. As one of the most successful grocery co-ops in the state of Texas, Wheatsville holds to the values of community empowerment, social action, and environmental responsibility. And, of course, they sell nutritious food.

In addition to groceries, vitamins, and magazines, Wheatsville also has a deli (where you can order sandwiches and other made-to-order meals), a wide variety of cheeses, beers, and wines, as well as body care and pet products. They also cater.
